This activity introduces two of the macromolecules, lipids and carbohydrates. An associated activity covers proteins and DNA. Students explore how attributes of lipids -- polarity and consequent solubility -- contribute to the construction of membranes, and how the forms of glycogen and starch relate to their different uses.
